The Festival is for one act plays, published or unpublished.
Excerpts from longer plays will not be accepted.
A selection of published scripts and new works is held for perusal by the organisers.
Entries must be accompanied by the registration fee, a synopsis
and two copies of the script.
A maximum of 21 spots are available for performances over
the three day weekend. If a company wishes to submit more
than one play they must nominate the preferred production
for performance and the second play will only be entered if
less than 21 contestants apply.
The Festival organisers reserve the right to refuse an entry
or reject a play for any reason.
All directors, actors and crew must be of amateur status,
ie their role in theatre, film or television is not their
major source of income.
Acquisition and payment of performing rights is the responsibility of entrants.
All technical requirements must be forwarded with the registration
form.
Supply of any additional or special lighting or sound equipment
is the responsibility of the entrants.
NOTE no naked flame or smoke of any kind permitted on stage or anywhere in the auditorium
– this includes cigarettes.
The maximum time for each production is 60 minutes including
set up, performing and strike. Productions running over time
will be adjudicated but will not be eligible for an award.
Productions will be allocated a max 15 min tech run session
including set and strike, lighting plot and focus and sound
check. No productions will be allowed more than 15 mins. If
you are not available in the theatre at the allocated time
your production may not get a tech run.
Plays are scheduled for performance recognising:
a) travel time and accommodation for interstate contestants
b) an appropriate mix of genres
A member of each group must assist the Festival stage manager
to set and strike the production and to call the show with
the tech from the bio box.
There will be no curtain calls.
The adjudicator’s decision is final.
